Thanksgiving Baskets

The members of the women’s Wednesday morning neighborhood Bible study group will be assembling Thanksgiving baskets for the 5 SCUCISD families which we have adopted for the holidays. The baskets will include a Thanksgiving prayer item, holiday decorations, a homemade food item and an HEB gift card. With the gift cards the families can purchase whatever they need for a special Thanksgiving celebration. We need your monetary donations to help cover the cost of the HEB gift cards. Please place your donation in one of the “Holiday Food Basket” envelopes available on the top of the offering box. If you make your donation by check, please make your check payable to Word of Life and write “Holiday Food Basket” in the memo line. In order to assemble the baskets in time for Thanksgiving, all donations must received by THIS Sunday, November 15.

Congregational Assembly

We had a brief meeting after worship last week and approved to expend the necessary funds to perform due diligence for the acquisition an 8 acre tract of land, enter into a contract for its purchase, borrow the funds necessary and complete the purchase. Praise the Lord for this next step in our land purchase process!

Thank You

Special thanks from Peggy Myers and Shirley Stewart to the men who spent last Saturday working on projects at their homes. Both Peggy and Shirley are grateful for your loving kindness.

Ministry Builders Saving Program

If you shop at Family Christian Stores, please ask about their Ministry Builder stamp program. It's like the old green stamp books, but it is NOT to be confused with getting your card 'punched' for future savings. At each purchase, let the cashier know you want to collect stamps. They’ll give you a booklet and a number of stamps, depending on the amount of your purchase. Just peel & place the stamps in the booklet. Once a booklet is full (20 stamps) pass it on to Pastor Ken or drop in the offering box. Word of Life gets $5 towards a Family Christian Store purchase for every booklet filled. This discount can be used on Sunday School supplies, Youth materials, Bible studies, Bibles and more.

Serving Wisdom/Fun

Give God what's right, not what's left!

Give Satan an inch and he'll be a ruler.

God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

God grades on the cross, not the curve.

God loves everyone, but probably prefers "fruits of the spirit" over "religious nuts"!

God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.

He who is good at making excuses, is seldom good for anything else.

He who kneels before God can stand before anyone!

Kindness is difficult to give away because it keeps coming back.

Most people want to serve God, but only in an advisory capacity.

Never give the devil a ride! He will always want to drive!

The Will of God will never take you to where the Grace of God will not protect you.

Watch your step carefully! Everyone else does!

If God is your co-pilot, change seats.

Just a Thought

"If we believe, we will love; If we love, we will serve." - Mother Teresa

Another Thought

There’s a clever young guy named Somebody Else,

There’s nothing this guy can’t do.

He is busy from morning till way late at night,

Just substituting for you.

You’re asked to do this or you’re asked to do that

And what is your reply?

Get Somebody Else to do that job,

He’ll do it much better than I.

So much to do in this weary old world

So much and workers so few,

And Somebody Else, all weary and worn,

Is still substituting for you.

So next time you’re asked to do something worthwhile

Come up with this honest reply:

"If Somebody Else can give time and support

It’s obviously true, so can I."

Joy & Peace,
Ken
