Love is Alive in Kenya What do you do after serving as the President of the Igreja Evangelica Luterana do Brasil (Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brazil)? Become a missionary to people in Kenya! This Sunday, Rev. Dr. Carlos Winterle and his wife Lidia will share how the Lord led them to Kenya, protected them through unrest and continues to use them to share the Gospel. They are renewing their term in Kenya for two more years. We’re privileged to have them as our guests as they travel four months in the U.S., sharing what God is doing in Kenya. Join them on Sunday during the LifeLesson portion of worship for this fun learning experience. Want to know more? Call David White at 650-3166. Grace Prayer Team Know the miraculous power of prayer. Word of Life has a team of prayer warriors ready to pray for you. The team meets on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. [map and directions] to pray for the morning worship and other needs. Also, prayer partners will be available to pray with you or for you after worship. Just come to the right side of the worship area. If you would like the team to pray for you throughout the week, just let Pastor Ken know (566-2237 or Ken@WordofLife4u.com), and he will share your request with the team. Please make it a part of your New Year’s resolutions to get involved in a LifeGroup in 2009. We currently have an evening group and a day time group for women, an evening group for youth in 7—12th grades and a breakfast group for men. Watch for more information about LifeGroups in the coming weeks. Summer Mission Trip We are organizing now for a group to travel to the Texas coast to help with Hurricane Ike Relief. Participants must be 13 years old and above. Dates are June 7—13, 2009. Approximate cost will be $250/person. We’ve already received a generous donation which will help offset about half of this cost. Participants must have current health insurance and an updated tetanus shot. Anyone under 18 years old must have their registration form notarized. Registration forms are available from Sherlyn. Completed registration forms and $25 are due back to Sherlyn by Sunday, January 4. Blood Donors Needed We have been praying for Amanda Conniff, Jayme Edward’s 14 year old niece. Amanda has had a difficult struggle in her battle against cancer and has needed a great deal of blood. You can donate blood to “replace” the units used by Amanda. Go to any blood donation station and let them know you want to give a replacement donation for Amanda Conniff, a patient at Christus Santa Rosa Children’s hospital. Sanctity of Human Life On Sunday, January 18, we will celebrate God’s gift of life. We’ll be collecting diapers and other baby items to give to the Options for Women center in New Braunfels. We’ll have baby bottles available on Sunday, January 4 for you to take home as a reminder to pray for those who are most vulnerable when it comes to life issues. Collect your spare change and extra bills in the bottle and bring the filled bottle with you to worship on Sunday, January 18. We’ll donate the bottles, and the money, to Options for Women. Love is Alive in Kenya
