Financial Peace in Turbulent Times The wealthiest man who ever lived actually wrote a book of the Bible. Even Bill Gates had nothing on Solomon, king of Israel. Solomon ate from plates of solid gold. He was also the wisest man who ever lived. Fortunately, he wrote down God-given principles for financial peace in a book called Proverbs. Discover financial peace in turbulent times this Sunday, February 15 at 10:45 a.m. 101 Pecan Drive, in Schertz [map and directions]. LifeGroups For Women—Evening For Students For Women—Daytime For Men Building a Bigger Heaven in Brazil In our prayers this week, we lift up recent seminary graduate and missionary pastor Adriel Rodrigues reaching people in Belém, Castanhal, and Ananindeua, Brazil. Ten percent of our regular offerings help support new missions through the Brazil Mission Society (www.brazilmissionsociety.com). In 2008 we provided enough support to send 2 pastors to begin new ministries and purchase one motor bike for a mission pastor to get to the 6 stations, on average, each ministry serves. It’s like having three pastors with two planting new mission churches in Brazil! Girls Night of Nails Thanks to all the ladies & girls who came to the Night of Nails - it was a good time for all. Winner for Prettiest Nails went to Mary Mastraccio, Wildest Nails to Elizabeth Costey, Most Improved to Laura Peebles (thanks to her daughter, Krista) and Most Out of Character went to Peggy Myers!!! Can-Do Summer Mission Trip If you signed up for our trip to help with Hurricane Ike relief this summer, please plan to stay after worship on Sunday, February 22, for an important informational meeting. He got to eat breakfast this morning. A brown and white mushy breakfast will be the only meal he’ll eat today. And in Zambia, where almost half the population – more than 5 million people – is hungry, Chris is blessed to have that mush. But some kids won’t get anything to eat—all day. And you won’t see them on the TV or hear their stories on the radio. In fact, before this day is over, 26,000 children under age 5 will die because of hunger, disease and poverty. 14,000 of them will die from causes linked to malnutrition alone. Today… tomorrow… and the next day… That’s one every seven seconds. But here’s the good news. Students in our congregation are choosing to make a difference. They are getting ready to take part in World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine. They’re going to raise money by not eating for 30 hours so that kids like Chris can eat every day. Dates for this year’s 30 Hour Famine are March 7 & 8. In the coming weeks you’ll hear more about the 30 Hour Famine. So here’s where you come in: please pray for the Famine participants, and then prayerfully consider how you can offer your financial support to help save kids’ lives. Student will begin collecting donations on Sunday, Feb. 15. Helpful Resources We have a limited number of very helpful, bestselling books at great prices on our Resource Table in the lobby. Pat is drinking at his local saloon and the bartender says to him, "You owe me quite a bit on your tab." "Sorry," says Pat, "I'm flat broke this week." "That's okay," says the bartender. "I'll just write your name and the amount you owe me right here on the wall." "But," says Pat, "I don't want any of my friends to see that." "They won't," says the bartender. "I'll just hang your parka over it until it's paid." Just a Thought The credit crunch could leave you stuck with your debt if you can't budge it. -Unknown Joy & Peace, ![]() Pastor Ken Mitschke <()>< P.S. For past issues or to subscribe [WordofLife4u].
