They sorted salvaged food donations, assembled food boxes and learned some eye-opening statistics about hunger in San Antonio. Click here to check out the pictures from their trip. The Five Love Languages Did you ever feel that you and someone you love were speaking different languages? Dr. Gary Chapman, after more than twenty years in counseling ministry, concluded that we often are. His book, The Five Love Languages, has remained a perennial hit on the New York Times Bestseller list (even more amazing since the Times doesn't count sales at Christian book stores). We'll take the five love languages in one hand and Scripture in the other and mine them for their treasures. Come discover both the greatness of God's love and how you can improve your love life this Sunday, February 8 at 10:45 a.m. 101 Pecan Drive, in Schertz [map and directions]. He got to eat breakfast this morning. A brown and white mushy breakfast will be the only meal he’ll eat today. And in Zambia, where almost half the population – more than 5 million people – is hungry, Chris is blessed to have that mush. But some kids won’t get anything to eat—all day. And you won’t see them on the TV or hear their stories on the radio. In fact, before this day is over, 26,000 children under age 5 will die because of hunger, disease and poverty. 14,000 of them will die from causes linked to malnutrition alone. Today… tomorrow… and the next day… That’s one every seven seconds. But here’s the good news. Students in our congregation are choosing to make a difference. They are getting ready to take part in World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine. They’re going to raise money by not eating for 30 hours so that kids like Chris can eat every day. Dates for this year’s 30 Hour Famine are March 7 & 8. In the coming weeks you’ll hear more about the 30 Hour Famine. So here’s where you come in: please pray for the Famine participants, and then prayerfully consider how you can offer your financial support to help save kids’ lives. Student will begin collecting donations on Sunday, Feb. 15. Thank You The residents and staff of the Fisher Houses would like to thank you for your kind donation. A simple “thank you” seems so inadequate, but it comes from the hearts of a very grateful staff and the family members of BAMC patients who have a temporary home with us while their family member is receiving treatment at the hospital. We appreciate your interest in the Fisher Houses, dedicated to our greatest national treasure—our military men and women and their loved ones. We encourage your continued involvement. Please stop in so we can show you how your gifts are helping our soldiers and their families. Our ability to support others in need is contingent on acts of kindness such as yours. Inge K. Godfrey, Manager Blood Donors Needed We have been praying for Amanda Conniff, Jayme Edward’s 14 year old niece. Amanda has had a difficult struggle in her battle against cancer and has needed a great deal of blood. You can donate blood to “replace” the units used by Amanda. Go to any blood donation station and let them know you want to give a replacement donation for Amanda Conniff, a patient at Christus Santa Rosa Children’s hospital. Thanks to those who have already given blood in her name! Online Calendar You've read through the WordofLife4u. It's through that same language that we most readily receive love. Here's how we can start speaking a new language to make sure our kids are getting the message..." [more] Couples Should Speak Each Other's Language - "Gary Chapman enjoys getting love letters. But not all of them are from his wife. They come from people who have attended one of the marriage conferences he has led. One such letter came from a man who gushed about his revitalized marriage and how Chapman had helped him love his wife again. The man credited Chapman's book, "The Five Love Languages," for helping improve his marriage in one weekend..." Valentine Fun After she woke up, a woman told her husband, "I just dreamed that you gave me a pearl necklace for Valentine's day. What do you think it means?" "You'll know tonight." he said. That evening, the man came home with a small package and gave it to his wife. Delighted, she opened it - to find a book entitled "The Meaning of Dreams." Just a Thought A Harvard study reveals that couples who 1) read the Bible together regularly; 2) pray together regularly; and 3) attend church together regularly have a divorce rate of 1 in 1287 -- that's less than 1/10 of 1%. - www.marriages.net ![]() Pastor Ken Mitschke <()>< P.S.
