Experience the Passion

Experience a fresh expression of Jesus’ love for you this Good Friday! Join us for a journey through seven hands-on prayer stations TONIGHT, Friday, April 2 at 7:00 p.m. at 101 Pecan Drive, Schertz. [map and directions]

  • Touch a crown of thorns and thank Jesus for enduring the pain on the cross.

  • Hammer nails into wood and seek God’s forgiveness for the sin in your life.

  • Write your name in red paint and remember the cost Christ paid to save you.

It’s called “The Passion” for a reason. It’s intense! It’s hopeful! It’s invigorating! Pray about who you will invite to share this experience.

Grace Prayer Team

Know the miraculous power of prayer. Word of Life has a team of prayer warriors ready to pray for you. The team meets on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. [map and directions] to pray for the morning worship and other needs. Also, prayer partners will be available to pray with you or for you after worship. Just come to the right side of the worship area.

If you would like the team to pray for you throughout the week, just let Pastor Ken know (566-2237 or Ken@WordofLife4u.com). He will share your request with the team.

The team is compiling a quarterly newsletter and they would like to add your story of answered prayer. Please share YOUR story and/or become a part of this exciting prayer team. Contact Betty Tolsma 659-8107 or bettytolsma@sbcglobal.net.

Building a Bigger Heaven in Brazil

In our prayers this week, we’re lifting up missionary pastor André Plamer and the ministry of Cristo Para Todos as they reach out to people in Osasco, Brazil and beyond. We support their work through the gift of 10% of our Sunday morning offerings to Brazil Mission Society. To find out more visit www.BrazilMissionSociety.com.

Fresh Start with God

If you've been a believer for some time or you’ve recently come to know Jesus as Savior; if you have questions about the Christian faith or you have a friend to bring that would benefit from this group... our Fresh Start with God course is for you. Everyone should attend this class at least once! It will help you:

  • build on a firm foundation which will benefit you for life,

  • discover or brush up on the essentials of the Christian faith (including what we believe at Word of Life Fellowship),

  • get connected with Pastor Ken and others,

  • play "Stump the Pastor," and

  • prepare for meaningful membership at Word of Life and more!

The course will answer seven common questions:

  • How can I be sure I’m a follower of Jesus?

  • OK, I believe in Jesus, but what does that mean?

  • Prayer and Bible Reading: Where Do I Start?

  • Why do I need baptism?

  • Why do I need the Lord’s Supper?

  • Why is it so important that I connect with other believers?

  • What do I need to know about Word of Life Fellowship?

We’re exploring meeting options for this course. Should it be a one day seminar, two half-day sessions or a seven week LifeGroup? If you are interested in attending, or you just want to know more about it, please look over the information on the RSVP form this Sunday and let us know which format works best for you, or contact Pastor Ken at Ken@WordofLife4u.com or 566-2237.

Ministry Facility Update

Last week we heard about progress on our contract to purchase 8 acres of land along FM 1103 near Steele High School. This property is currently zoned agricultural and the zoning must be changed before we can build a mission and ministry facility on the property. The Cibolo Planning and Zoning commission will meet on Tuesday, April 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Cibolo City Hall, 200 S. Main, Cibolo. If all goes well, the issue will be brought before the full Council on Tuesday, April 27 at 7:00 p.m. We would love to have several  representatives from Word of Life attend one or both of these meetings to show our support for our future presence in the Cibolo community.

$100,000 + $100,000 + Interest!

For every dollar you give to our Building Fund until the end of 2010, the Texas District LCMS has generously offered to match it up to $100,000. As a bonus your donation will receive a high rate of return in the coming year through our Texas CEF Building Fund which is currently paying 2.78% apy. Just write "Building Fund" in the memo line of your check or place your gift in a Ministry Facility Fund envelope.

RACAP

The Randolph Area Christian Assistance Program (RACAP) was established to serve the unmet needs of individuals in our community. The ministry is supported through food and financial donations from member churches, individuals and local organizations. RACAP provides assistance in the form of food, rent assistance, help with purchasing prescription medicines and help to pay utilities.

During the month of February 2010, 72 area families were assisted. This represents 172 individuals. 133 people were fed through 59 pantry visits. The total cost of food distributed through February was $4,575.

Word of Life collects donations for RACAP on the 2nd Sunday of each month. They are especially in need of peanut butter, jelly, boxed mixes (Tuna Helper/Hamburger Helper), cereal (hot and cold) and dried beans. Place your donations in the RACAP basket next Sunday, April 11 or write RACAP in the memo line of your check made out to Word of Life Fellowship and place it in the offering box.

Easter Bunny Funny

A man was blissfully driving along the highway, when he saw the Easter Bunny hopping across the middle of the road. He swerved to avoid hitting the bunny, but unfortunately the rabbit jumped in front of his car and was hit. The basket of eggs went flying all over the place. Candy, too.

The driver, being a sensitive man as well as an animal lover, pulled over to the side of the road, and got out to see what had become of the bunny carrying the basket. Much to his dismay, the colorful bunny was dead. The driver felt guilty and began to cry.

A woman driving down the same highway saw the man crying on the side of the road and pulled over. She stepped out of her car and asked the man what was wrong.

"I feel terrible," he explained. "I accidentally hit the Easter Bunny and killed him. There may not be an Easter because of me. What should I do?"

The woman told the man not to worry. She know exactly what to do. She went to her car trunk, and pulled out a spray can. She walked over to the limp dead bunny, and sprayed the entire contents of the can onto the little furry animal. Miraculously the Easter Bunny came back to life, jumped up, picked up the spilled eggs and candy, waved its paw at the two humans and hopped on down the road. 50 yards away the Easter Bunny stopped, turned around, waved and hoped on down the road another 50 yards, turned waved, hopped another 50 yards and waved again!

The man was astonished. He said to the woman, "What in heaven's name is in your spray can?"

The woman turned the can around so that the man could read the label. It said: "Hair Spray. Restores life to dead hair. Adds permanent wave."
