We're building a bigger heaven and better lives!

Fresh Start with God this Saturday

If you've been a believer for some time or you’ve recently come to know Jesus as Savior; if you have questions about the Christian faith or you have a friend to bring that would benefit from this group... our Fresh Start with God course is for you. Everyone should attend this class at least once! It will help you:

  • build on a firm foundation which will benefit you for life,

  • discover or brush up on the essentials of the Christian faith (including what we believe at Word of Life Fellowship),

  • get connected with Pastor Ken and others,

  • play "Stump the Pastor," and

  • prepare for meaningful membership at Word of Life and more!

The course will answer seven common questions:

  • How can I be sure I’m a follower of Jesus?

  • OK, I believe in Jesus, but what does that mean?

  • Prayer and Bible Reading: Where Do I Start?

  • Why do I need baptism?

  • Why do I need the Lord’s Supper?

  • Why is it so important that I connect with other believers?

  • What do I need to know about Word of Life Fellowship?

The first session of this class is THIS Saturday morning, May 8 from 8:30 a.m.—noon at the Mitschke’s 1531 Jasmine, Schertz. Please join us!

Support RACAP this weekend!

Before your mail carrier comes on Saturday, May 8, leave a bag of non-perishables by your mailbox for the "Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive." Food donated in the 78154 and 78108 zip codes will be delivered to the Randolph Area Christian Assistance Ministry (RACAP).

If you have some time available on Saturday afternoon, RACAP could use volunteers to help unload and sort food donations at their 307 Pfeil Street location. If you can help for any amount of time between 2:30 and 5:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, please contact Jessie Fisher at RACAP, 658-1613.

If you miss the mail carrier on Saturday, just bring your donations with you to church on Sunday. Our RACAP collection basket will be in the lobby this Sunday to gather your donation.

RACAP provides assistance in the form of food, rent assistance, help with purchasing prescription medicines and help to pay utilities.
During the month of March, 2010, 84 area families were assisted. This represents 254 individuals. 163 people were fed through 563pantry visits. The total cost of food distributed through March was $5,620.

Help us celebrate Moms

We thank God for the gift of moms and will celebrate that wonderful role on Sunday, May 9. There will be special gifts for moms who deserve unique recognition and a treat for all women in attendance at worship. Be sure to invite your mom or a friend or neighbor to join us for Mother’s Day.

The Noble Woman

Mothers are noble women. The mom in Proverbs 31 had good relationships with others, a good relationship with life and a good relationship with God. Let’s celebrate and encourage the noble women in our lives this Sunday, May 9, 10:45 a.m. at 101 Pecan Drive, Schertz. [map and directions]

Nursery (infant to age 4)

A nursery is available for children infant – age 4 at any time during the worship service on Sundays in the Mother’s Room, to the left as you exit the worship area. The audio of the service is broadcast into the room. Interested in helping with Nursery? Sign up at the Info Table or contact Chris Stemmermann at 566-1401.

J.A.M. (ages 5-8)

Children ages 5-8 are invited to join us for J.A.M., our age appropriate worship/learning experience for children, just after the Children's message this Sunday! Interested in helping with J.A.M.? Contact David White at 650-3166.

Just for Tweens (ages 9-12)

Kids ages 9—12 are invited to be a part of Tweens, a group specially designed for them. Join them this Sunday during the LifeLesson portion of worship for this fun learning experience. Want to know more? Call Becky Peterson at 945-7952.

Grace Prayer Team

Know the miraculous power of prayer. Word of Life has a team of prayer warriors ready to pray for you. The team meets on Sundays at 10:30 a.m. [map and directions] to pray for the morning worship and other needs. Also, prayer partners will be available to pray with you or for you after worship. Just come to the right side of the worship area.

If you would like the team to pray for you throughout the week, just let Pastor Ken know (566-2237 or Ken@WordofLife4u.com). He will share your request with the team.

The team is compiling a quarterly newsletter and they would like to add your story of answered prayer. Please share YOUR story and/or become a part of this exciting prayer team. Contact Betty Tolsma 659-8107 or bettytolsma@sbcglobal.net.

StressBusters
LifeLesson Series on Psalm 23

What are the seven greatest sources of stress? They’re all found in Psalm 23. So why is this one of the most beloved passages in God’s Word? Because here God administers the antidotes to stress; because here God reveals who He is and how much He loves you and how much you matter to Him. This LifeLesson series continues on Sunday, May 16. Invite someone you know for some stress relief!

What Moms Really Want for Mother’s Day

10. To be able to eat a whole candy bar (alone) and drink a Coke without any "floaters."
9. To have a 14-year-old answer a question without rolling her eyes in that "Why is this person my mother?" way.
8. Five pounds of chocolate that won’t add twenty.
7. A shower without a child peeking through the curtain with a "Hi ya, Mom!"
6. A full-time cleaning person who looks like Brad Pitt.
5. For a teenager to announce, "Hey, Mom! I got a full scholarship and a job all in the same day!"
4. A grocery store that doesn’t have candy, gum, and cheap toys displayed at the checkout line.
3. To have a family meal without a discussion about bodily functions.
2. To be able to step on a plane with toddlers and not have some pencil-neck-yuppie-geek moan, "Oh, no! Why me?"
1. Four words: Fisher Price Play Prison

Just a Thought

If evolution really works, how come mothers only have two
hands?

Joy & Peace,
Ken
