We're building a bigger heaven and better lives!

Men's Mission Possible Project Pictures

We had a great group of men and young men who turned out to work on trailer repairing, roof seam sealing, prepping and painting for a member in need. We added a couple of hours on a second day to finish up and were joined by helpful women and children. It was fun and fulfilling to share the love of Christ in this way. Check out the pictures from our project!

Backyard Vacation Bible School

Think of kids laughing, playing and running around on a sunny day in the summer. Now, think about those same kids doing this in your own backyard. Why are they so happy? You are hosting a Backyard Vacation Bible School (VBS) where these kids are learning about Jesus and having the time of their lives while doing it.

If you thought having a VBS was only for churches, you're wrong! The idea of a Backyard VBS is becoming very popular throughout the world. It makes a great way to reach out to your un-churched neighbors through one of the best resources they have… their kids! When kids get excited about Jesus, parents get excited, too.

How can you get involved with a Backyard VBS this summer? Pray about it and sign up on the RSVP form this Sunday or contact David White, 650-3166.

Word of Life Drill Team

The Schertz Fourth of July Jubilee is coming! The annual parade will take place on Saturday, July 3. This year will see a return of the “famous” Word of Life Drill Team! We need YOU to be part of the Team?

What does it take?

  • Do you own/can you borrow a light weight drill?

  • Are you willing to walk a few miles in the July, Texas heat?

  • Do you have a great sense of humor?

If so, you’re in! We’ll even provide your uniform (Word of Life t-shirt.) In addition to drill team members, we’ll also need someone to design/construct our drill team banner and someone to drive the drill team SAG wagon. Want to know more? Contact Mark Stemmermann, 508-2073, Toby Molina, 705-9578 or Patti Mitschke, 862-2075.

Growing Mission

God's mission is growing all around us:

  • The population in our mission and ministry area will grow another 22% in the next four years.

  • Ethnicities represented are 63% Anglo, 24% Hispanic, and 8% African American.

  • By 2014 there will be 1000 additional babies and toddlers, 2800 additional school-age young people, 500 additional young twenty-somethings, 4600 singles and young families (age 25-34), 440 additional 35-54 year olds, and 7500 additional people 55 and over.

That's a huge number of school age children and young families and a growing number of empty nesters and seniors. How will we reach them?

"Better Life" Links

What Do Lutherans Believe - "Luther and the other writers of these confessions did not want to be doctrinal innovators. They, together with their contemporary descendants, maintain that we believe and teach nothing more and nothing less than what the Scriptures themselves teach and what Christians through the ages have always believed..." Employment Fun

IF FAMOUS HISTORICAL FIGURES WERE LOOKING FOR A JOB TODAY...

Julius Caesar: My last job involved a lot of office politics and back stabbing. I'd like to get away from all that.

Jesse James: I can list among my experience and skills: leadership, extensive travel, logistical organization, intimate understanding of firearms, and a knowledge of security measures at numerous banks.

Marie Antoinette: My management style has been criticized, but I'd like to think of myself as a people person.

Joseph Guillotin: I can give your company a head start on the competition.

Hamlet: My position was eliminated in a hostile takeover.

Pandora: I can bring a lot to your company. I like discovering new things.

Genghis Khan: My primary talent is downsizing. On my last job I downsized my staff, my organization, and the populations of several countries.

Macbeth: Would I go after my boss's job? Do I look like the kind of guy who would knock off his boss for a promotion?

Lady Godiva: What do mean, this isn't "business casual?"

Elvis: My last boss and I...say, are you going to eat those fries?

Just a Thought

"What is the most natural way to increase the number of visitors in your church? The answer is quite simple: Create a service that is intentionally designed for your members to bring their friends to. And make the service so attractive, appealing, and relevant to the unchurched that your members are eager to share it with the lost people they care about." - Rick Warren
