New Baby Arrives

Praise the Lord! Gabriella White arrived Thursday night at just over eight pounds and about 20 inches. Mom, baby and the rest of the family are well. Isabella is currently recuperating at Wilford Hall and expects to be home Sunday. Thank the Lord for a safe pregnancy and delivery and the miracle of life! We Need God in America

America was established on Biblical principles. Times have certainly changed – not for the good. We need God in America again! Join us as we celebrate Independence Day, this Sunday, July 4, 10:45 a.m. at 101 Pecan Drive, Schertz. [map and directions]

Building a Bigger Heaven in Texas

In our prayers this week, we’re lifting up missionary pastor Oscar Benavides and the people of LINC as they reach out to people in north Texas and beyond. We support this work through the gift of 10% of our Sunday morning offerings to Texas Partners in Mission. To find out more, visit www.txdistlcms.org/tpim.

Jubilee Community Outreach

Thanks to everyone who helped plant flags last Sunday. We blanketed the neighborhoods around the church property on FM 1103 and talked with a few residents. Thanks also to those who marched in the Drill Team and helped Word of Life have a fun, prominent presence in the parade.

July 4th Fireworks

Bring your lawn chair, a drink and your bug spray and meet us in the parking lot of Greater Randolph 7th Day Adventist church [map and directions] at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 4. The fireworks are scheduled to start at 9:15 and the parking lot provides a great view of both the Schertz and Randolph AFB displays.

Backyard VBS 2010 - Volunteers Still Needed

Reach out to the kids in your neighborhood by hosting or helping with our Backyard VBS outreach. Think of this as a special time of Bible stories, music, games and more. Three families have volunteered to host this effort so far:

July 20—Flowers
July 27—Whites
August 3—open
August 10—Weissmann
August 17—open

We still need host families for the two open dates and we can always use additional helpers for all five days. The theme is "Treasure Seekers" and is a an introductory study on God's attributes for children ages 2 to 12.

We’ll be holding the Backyard VBS Tuesdays from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. If you can help, please sign up on the RSVP form this Sunday or contact David White at 650-3166.

“Back to School” Shoe Program

Randolph Area Christian Assistance Program (RACAP) will again be doing their Back to School Shoe program this year. The program will include students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. RACAP will begin accepting applications for the program on July 12th. The program will continue through October 1, 2010.

To Apply
Eligible students will receive a Pay Less shoe store limited use gift card which they can redeem for a pair of shoes. To qualify, a parent or guardian must visit the RACAP offices (307 Pfeil St., Schertz.) They will need the following items:

  • Photo ID

  • Social Security cards for everyone in the household

  • Proof of residence

  • Proof of all income and benefits

For more information, call RACAP at 658-1613 between 1:00 and 3:00 PM.

How You Can Help:
Last year 143 families applied for the program and 328 Payless Shoe Store limited use gift cards were issued. RACAP receives the gift cards at a discounted price. The total cost to RACAP, with their 10% discount, was $5,928.68. RACAP depends on your monetary donations to cover the costs of the shoes. They are seeking your help to fund the program. The number of children who will receive shoes will depend upon the amount donated to the program. To date, RACAP has never had to turn anyone away due to a lack of funding!

With the current economic conditions and more people losing their jobs or having their hours cut, we anticipate this year's numbers will be even higher. RACAP envelopes will be available at worship for the next few Sundays. Make your check payable to “Word of Life” and write RACAP in the memo field.
