The Cross, The Throne

There is a King who doesn’t seize power but gives Himself away.

Today is Christ the King Sunday – the last Sunday in the traditional Church Year – and we don’t end the year in triumphal gold but at the foot of a cross, where the true throne stands and where the kingdom of God breaks into the world with a wounded whisper. In Colossians and Luke, we see the cosmic Christ holding all things together even as creation trembles at His death, and we meet a dying King whose first royal act is to welcome a broken thief into paradise. This is kingship the world can’t imitate: suffering love that rescues, restores, and remakes.

This Sunday’s sermon uncovers the breathtaking paradox of Christ’s reign – how the One who spoke galaxies into existence rules from a criminal’s cross, reconciling all things by His own blood. The year closes with a call to look again at the King who turns His bruised face toward sinners and says, “You are Mine… and you will be with Me.” Come and see the kingdom revealed in its truest glory, and hear the promise spoken for you.
