EThe last workers had barely broken a sweat when the owner placed a full day’s wage into their hands.
The workers who had carried the burden and heat of the entire day immediately began doing the math…and the owner’s generosity became an offense.
We know that arithmetic. We count the years served, the sacrifices made, the suffering endured, and the work accomplished. Then we look sideways at God and ask, “What am I owed?”
But the righteousness of God’s kingdom is not the wage of our religious labor. Jesus Christ received the wages earned by sinners, and sinners receive His righteousness.
Whole, undivided, and entirely by grace.
