When I Am Humiliated, I Am Honored
The world sees humiliation as failure.
But the Christian story says something very different.
David pretends to be insane to survive. Job sits in ashes scraping his wounds. Peter denies Jesus and weeps in shame. John the Baptist watches his influence disappear.
Yet Scripture calls these men honored. Why?
Because in Christ, humiliation becomes the place where God draws near, pride dies, and faith learns to breathe.
This Sunday we explore the strange paradox at the heart of the Christian life: “When I Am Humiliated, I Am Honored.”
If you have ever wondered where God is when life humbles you, this message is for you.

The Lowest Seat
From Pride to Purpose | Luke 14:1–14 | Why Jesus Calls Us to Take the Lowest Seat
Have you ever caught yourself silently competing for the “best seat” – whether at a wedding, at work, or even in church?
In Luke 14:1-14, Jesus disrupts our pride-driven instincts and flips the world’s rules of honor upside down. He teaches that “everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”
This sermon explores how pride poisons our relationships and isolates us, and how Christ Himself took the lowest seat – at the cross – so that we could be lifted up and seated at God’s table. Drawing from C.S. Lewis, Dante’s Divine Comedy, and the Gospel itself, we’ll see that true spiritual maturity begins with humility, and tiny hidden acts of grace in daily life.
If you’ve ever wrestled with comparison, envy, or the pressure to prove yourself, this message is for you.
Join us as we journey “From Pride to Purpose” in Luke’s Gospel.
👉 Watch now, and discover how Jesus’ humility reshapes our lives.
👉 If you’re local, come sit with us in person next Sunday – we’ll save you a seat.Okay, I’ve gone. I’ve confronted. Nothing is resolved. Here are three potential next steps and how to choose between them.
